PRESS RELEASE
POWERTECH MAKES MAJOR
MARKETING PROGRESS
The Company
continues to deliver new PicBucket units under its V.I.PIC
marketing program
Blainville (Quebec),
Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005 – Mr. Carol Murray,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Power Tech Corporation
Inc. "PowerTech" or "the Company" (TSX-V:
PWB), is pleased to announce that the Company has made
major progress in recent months with its marketing activities,
in accordance with the Company's business plan. "These
marketing efforts still have the ultimate goal of bringing
about distribution and partnership agreements in the short
term with key players in the industry that would enable
us to take important new steps in our development. These
agreements would give us access to huge markets in which
PowerTech's technology would offer significant benefits," said
Mr. Murray.
For several weeks, PowerTech
has been in discussions with major original equipment manufacturers,
as well as some niche players working in specialized markets.
These different companies have shown a marked interest in
PowerTech's technology and wish to conduct trials using the "PicBucket".
In particular, these meetings have been held with five major
companies located in Europe and Western Canada. "These
large companies are constantly looking for innovations that
will allow them to enhance the performance and productivity
of their equipment. We believe that these major manufacturers
would soon like to include the "PicBucket" in their
product portfolios because this technology meets market expectations
and brings high added value to their equipment offerings," explains
Mr. Murray.
The "PicBucket" proves its impressive
efficiency
Meanwhile, PowerTech is
continuing to introduce its "PicBucket" units to
the market under the V.I.PIC program. "This program
is fulfilling its promises. The participating entrepreneurs
say that they are very satisfied with our technology's performance.
Efficiency gains of more than 100% have been reported during
the execution of various types of excavation tasks. Trials
have even been carried out in the states of Nevada and Arizona
in order to validate the performance of the "PicBucket" in "caliche",
a hard and abrasive soil. This type of soil usually requires
digging be performed using multiple attachments. The trials
have shown that the "PicBucket" can easily perform
the work alone and, as a result, replaces several individual
pieces of machinery," noted Mr. Richard Hélie,
PowerTech's Vice-President of Sales and Marketing.
Furthermore, the strategic
execution of the marketing plan, initiated last spring, is
successfully continuing in Quebec and Ontario through the
V.I.PIC program. "We are confident that in the short
term the program will generate sales of "PicBucket" units.
No one has yet questioned the "PicBucket's" performance
and its great usefulness, underlines Mr. Hélie. In
addition, after first targeting the Canadian market, the
V.I.PIC program will be extended to the North Eastern US
market within a few weeks, notably in New York State. The
addition of an experienced sales representative to service
this market will enable us to accelerate our business plan.
We have strong hopes that the V.I.PIC program will enjoy
the same success in the United States as it has here in Canada," Mr.
Hélie adds.
The V.I.PIC program
The V.I.PIC program is
a mutually advantageous partnership proposal between PowerTech
and select players in the construction industry. Through
this initiative, PowerTech allows participating entrepreneurs
to use the "PicBucket" at a reduced fee for a set
period. If they are satisfied, they can then purchase it
at a preferential price. In addition, they can benefit from
an excellent guarantee and financing conditions. In return,
participants would accept that the results of their experience
using the "PicBucket" and their name be used in
PowerTech's marketing efforts.
The "PicBucket",
developed by PowerTech using patented technology, is a flexible,
multifunctional percussion bucket that combines the power
of a hydraulic hammer with the stripping strength and maneuverability
of a conventional bucket. It can be used to carry out excavation,
demolition, backfilling and compacting work far more efficiently
than traditional equipment. The "PicBucket" can
excavate all soil types at several different angles of impact.
The buckets are shovels
located at the end of the mechanical arms of backhoes, "backhoe
loaders", on excavators and mini-excavators. "PicBucket" units
include, in addition to the bucket, interchangeable tools
that can be installed at the end of the bucket. These are "PicPins" a
three-point demolition device; the "PicBlade",
a knife for cutting and demolition; the "PicGrate",
a flat blade; and the "PicPlate", a plate for compaction
work.
