PRESS RELEASE
POWERTECH LAUNCHES A MAJOR NEW PHASE OF
ITS MARKETING PROGRAM
The Company’s technology soon
to be used in various construction sites in Quebec
Blainville, Quebec, Tuesday,
May, 17, 2005 – Carol Murray, President and
Chief Executive Officer of Corporation PowerTech Inc. “PowerTech” (TSX-V:
PWB), announced today that the Company has launched a key
phase of its marketing plan. Within just a few weeks, PowerTech
technology will be used in various construction sites within
Quebec.
“We are confident that
these construction sites will benefit greatly from the significant
productivity advantages offered by our technology,” states
Mr. Murray. “The power and versatility of our bucket
can often cut excavation time in half. This performance translates
into economic and social returns through reduced construction
costs and a shorter period of inconvenience for communities
where the work is being carried out, particularly with respect
to traffic congestion. Moreover, during a demonstration we
conducted on May 6 in Trois-Rivières for members of
the Association professionnelle de l’outillage des
municipalités du Québec, we were pleased
and proud to see to what extent our technology made an impression.
And it was that much more satisfying because those on hand
were experts in the field.”
Patented technology that
substantially enhances performance standards
Using patented technology, PowerTech
has developed a multi-purpose bucket – the “PicBucket,” which
conducts much more efficient excavation, demolition, backfilling
and compacting than traditional equipment. The buckets are
shovels on the end of the mechanical arm of backhoes, excavators,
and mini-excavators. Unlike conventional buckets, the PicBucket
is equipped with a powerful percussion system and can be fitted
with interchangeable tools, including a three pin demolition
set (the “PicPins”), a blade (the “PicBlade”),
a flat blade (the “PicGrate”) and a compaction
plate (the “PicPlate”). PowerTech’s first
available product, the Series 2000, is designed for backhoes
and small excavators.
“We offer an efficient,
robust and high-quality product,” continues Mr. Murray. “We
believe that our technology will trigger a revolution in the
construction sector by generating major productivity gains
in excavation work.”
Marketing plan
Begun last year, PowerTech’s
marketing plan targets heavy equipment distributors, construction
companies and public works managers. PowerTech is also canvassing
a number of large original equipment manufacturers. “There’s
no question that concluding commercial and partnership agreements
with major industry players is one of the key objectives of
our marketing program,” adds Mr. Murray. “Our association
with various construction sites in Quebec will contribute to
the success of our marketing efforts by increasing awareness
of and clearly demonstrating the efficiency and benefits that
our technology offers the construction industry.”
PowerTech expects to initially
develop the Quebec and Canadian markets. “While we are
focusing on the Canadian market over the short term, we are
monitoring business opportunities elsewhere in the world, most
notably in the United States and Europe,” concludes Mr.
Murray. “We also plan to ensure that PowerTech receives
wide visibility at industry trade fairs and conventions. In
fact, on June 4, we will participate in the Heavy Construction
Show in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This event brings together
original equipment manufacturers from the Western Canadian
construction sector. We have reason to believe that our technology
will be of great interest to the show’s participants.” Just
weeks ago, PowerTech participated in the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005
trade show in Las Vegas, attended by close to 125, 000 construction
industry professionals from around the world. The Company also
recently participated in the National Heavy Equipment Show
in Toronto.
In a few weeks, PowerTech will
host the official presentation of its first product, the Series
2000 PicBucket.
